Well, we're working on recovery. We're all still very tired. Hoping for a good night's sleep so we can tackle the Great Wall tomorrow. Last night I found I was too keyed up about finally being here to fall asleep easily. Today was a very nice day with sunshine and comfortable temps. There was a brief fire in the building under construction across the street, but we were unaware of it until we went outside less than an hour after it was put out. You can see in one of the pictures a fireman on a very high ladder. Another picture shows the boys looking in a basin of goldfish in the lobby. Some of our group (including me) tried some shopping, but ended up in a western-style mall which offered almost nothing we couldn't get in the U.S. I think we missed the more interesting part of the mall our guide tried to direct us to. It apparently went on for blocks, indoor and outdoor. We did find some 2008 Olympics souvenirs. Danny and Roger went to the pool for a while, then back to the room for a nap. Around 4:30 we went to the Acrobatic Show, which was wonderful. At one point they managed to balance 12 people on one bicycle. Danny had been so sleepy but perked up at the show. We ate supper in our room and Danny discovered he likes Ramen noodles. Maybe tomorrow I will have more interesting details to share.

Dear Ruth, Roger, Danny and Ann - I'm enjoying reading your entries. I pray for you, especially Naomi, frequently. Let us know when you get to eat authentic Chinese food - what is it like? ~ Kathy Dudero
In your shots it looks like Roger is carrying Danny alot. How is his back holding up? We will add it to our prayer list.
